Lawrence of Arabia’s tree
This lonely tree is in the spectacular Wadi Rum, Jordan: location for much of the filming of the 1962 classic, Lawrence of Arabia, and the real T.E. Lawrence passed through Wadi Rum many times. Our Bedouin guide – pictured in this earlier post, photographing the desert sunset – was happy, for a small fee, to show us ‘special’ filming spots!
Ah, the small fee. I’ve encountered that many times in my travels. Rather surprisingly (and somewhat ridiculously), a quote from Frank Zappa comes to mind (from Cosmik Debris):
The mystery man came over and he said I’m outta sight.
He said, for a nominal service charge, I could reach Nirvana tonight.
If I was ready, willing, and able to pay him his regular fee,
He was willing to drop all his pressing affairs and devote his attention to me…
🙂
How beautiful this is.
Thanks so much – Wadi Rum is an amazing place. Really tranquil
That tree looks so lush in that dry landscape!
Yes, it’s a bit of a mystery!
I love the tone of the photo! It’s stunningly beautiful!
Thanks so much!
