Supermoon!
This is one of those images I took as an experiment – almost 3 years ago to the day – and then promptly forgot about. Ideally these shots are supposed to have landmarks in the foreground to give a sense of scale, but unfortunately the moon did not cooperate and decided to rise over a largely unpopulated part of Wellington Harbour, and I think I chose the wrong location to shoot it from! I’ll be better prepared the next time one comes around …
NZIPP Awards 2014 – Illustrative Category
And finally, here is my Bronze winning image in the Illustrative category at last year’s New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography’s awards.
Within
Keeping with the iPhone theme of my last blog post, today I took these Hipstamatic double exposures of my awesome lighting assistant Simon, while I was waiting for a corporate portrait client to arrive. Within a short time of uploading them to Facebook, I found that one of them had been featured on the HipstaChallenge Facebook site. Thanks to Samuel at HipstaChallenge for the title: ‘Within’.
Down at the seashore
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an iPhone image. I took this shot earlier this week using the cool Polamatic app, on the warmest evening of summer so far, down at my local beach. The beach is only five minutes walk away from where we live, and featured in this earlier blog post.
The house on the hill
This is probably one of the most photographed houses in the Wairarapa area. It is located in the rural community of Ponatahi just one hour from Wellington. Some people called it the haunted house, and truly when you look at it closer it looks quite spooky. But the story of this house is that it was purchased by a farmer who had the intention of renovating it to make it the new home for his family. Unfortunately all this happened during the time of farming recession in NZ, and as a consequence, the farmer couldn’t keep up with the renovation costs, and had to cope with the sadness of getting divorced at the same time. So, he let time and weather take care of the house.
The house can be seen from many kilometres away, and to me it always looks interesting and sometimes even beautiful. The Sunday I went to Ponatahi for a drive I took another look at the property and took a step back to photograph it with its surroundings and not concentrating in its dilapidated state.
Into the woods

Hooked on Instagram!
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on WordPress. But finally the wedding season is coming to an end, and I’ll have more time to think about what images to post.
In the meantime though, I have become hooked on Instagram, because it is so quick to take, process and upload images straight from my iPhone. This is a small selection of images I’ve uploaded recently, with the whole portfolio found here.
Lost (Again …)
Some of you will have already seen this image which I posted back in October. Apologies for posting it again (!), but I just found out this image – ‘Lost’ – received an Honorable Mention ín the Spring 2012 International Women’s Call for Entry organised by PWP (Professional Women Photographers) based in New York. All winners, jurors’ selections and honorable mentions are posted on the PWP website.
