Taphophilia is a passion for and enjoyment of cemeteries.  Taphophilia involves epitaphs, gravestone rubbing, photography, art, and history of (famous) deaths.

I took this image a few years ago while visiting my hometown – Lima, Perú. The cemetery Presbitero Maestro is one of the oldest cemeteries in Latin America. It was opened in 1808 and it is the burial ground for many men and women who wrote Peru’s history. It has 766 impressive mausoleums as well as many marble statues.
